This place is super cool - Andy, our brew coach, was as hands on or off as we needed him to be. The guys were witty, the space was immaculate, and the recipes were numerous. Can't wait to go back and bottle our Black Magic Imperial Stout!

First Monday in August, I find myself trying some really good brews with friends, does the first day of the week get any better? I think not! Vine Park offers a free tasting every (non-holiday) Monday, what a great way to sample about a half dozen great tasting ales & lagers. This eve a shout out to Mississippi Market for pairing some wonderful cheese selections too. And their root beer is outstanding as well!

How have I never heard of this place before!? I was driving around the area when I saw the storefront and stopped in. Right upon entering a friendly employee was there to explain what they did and ask if I had any questions. My fiancé and I ended up looking around for awhile, buying a growler full of pale ale and a six pack of root beer. They had good prices, a great atmosphere, and most importantly they had phenomenal beer! Highly recommend this place for beer lovers.

This place has been around for about 17 years, so why haven't I heard of it before? This is one of the most interesting breweries in MN that I've seen. They let you brew your own beer or wine and they have 60 or so recipes to choose from. In addition they brew their own and have growlers for sale. So you get the best of both worlds. We went there for the tasting and the tour. They brew some good beers here, but hey, they've had 17 years to perfect their recipes. My favorite was the Dortmunder Export. So I grabbed a growler to go! There was also a Foursquare special for first time visitors, so I got a free bottle of root beer as well! The brew your own beer is reasonably priced for the quantity you get in the end. Even more so if you go in with other people, which is what we will do. I look forward to my next visit here!

This review only covers growler sales, not use of their on-site brewing facilities. I took advantage of their Strib deal and got my first growler last week. Nice selection of beers available. The guy made sure that I understood that even with the deal I would still have to pay tax on the growler and beer, which came to $1.80, but that the next growler would be $1.20 for the beer only. Staff were friendly and welcoming, as well as ready to answer any questions about the different beers available. I have a feeling that I will visit VPBC even after the Strib deal is used up.

I've brewed here twice now and had great results. I just brewed my first batch of wine, and it's now sitting for it's required 9 month aging process, and believe me I'm excited to crack those puppies open. I have brewed only one type of beer here, the Smooth Sailing Pale Ale. It is very similar to the New Belgium Brewery's Fat Tire, however it's a bit smoother in finish. Tips: you brew a full keg worth of beer when you go, so don't be put off by the prices on their site, so it's good to split it with a friend or two. You usually get like 72 22oz bottles out of your brew, so that's quite a bit of beer! The bottle will fill a pint glass 1 and 3/4 times, so you get a great value. The first time you go you have to purchase the bottles, and then you can return them so you never have to purchase them. Frequent brewers brew 10 get the 11th keg free! I figured it all out and it's soooooooo worth it, coming out to somewhere between 1.5-2.00 per beer, you can't beat that for a home brew/Micro Brew. Plus, they Vine Park guys are AWESOME and funny. Come to this place and come often! Even if you just want a tour, just to buy a growler to sample their stuff! They'll happily show you around! If you want to make wine, beer or root beer they make it all! It's really fun great for groups young and old!

I like buying growlers here from time to time and they do make solid beer. The brew it yourself option I find boring. I'm not sure what I expected when I did it, but basically do you remember being a kid and helping your mom bake a cake? Similar experience, ok, now fill this measuring cup with this ingredient and now dump into this larger bowl. That's really it. Of course if they gave you too much freedom, you'd probably end up making a nasty concotion and well....Staff is very fun and friendly, I see why they do it the way they do it, but it's just not that exciting.

This has the potential to be a lot of fun. It was slightly fun for me and what made it a lot more fun was the fact that I didn't have to pay for it. Otherwise it might be a little steep for the "experience". However, I will say that it would be a lot of fun to go here and make your own beer and then serve it at your next party or dinner. But overall you really don't do much when it comes to the brewing process. They have it pretty well dumbed down and have made it very simple to do. All you have to do is measure out 5 or 6 things and then dump them in when they tell you. That's it. Then you go back in a couple weeks and bottle your beer. Well you bottle whatever it is that you don't drink during the bottling process. So it was pretty fun but again it seems like it could be a lot more fun than what it actually was.

Update regarding growlers: I got a nice message from the owner, who said they're changing their growler policy. You can now return a growler jug for a $5 Vine Park Buck, which can be used to purchase more beer - or other stuff at the store. I think this is fair (the initial cost of the growler is $5), and I'll probably go back to Vine Park now, at least to turn in my current growlers. I am impressed that the ownership responded to my concerns and changed their policy. Good work, Vine Park! Four stars just for responsivness!
